Very pleased this is a good beginner camera kit!

I very much recommend this product the only thing is that the camera doesnt work well in low light conditions so it's not the best for shooting at night time. This is my first camera though so I'm learning to light my sets and block and shoot.

Not sure why Blackmagic still sells this camera...

Don't let the price point fool you... takes a decent amount of additional investment to get the camera up and running. You better have a ton invested in lighting as well, because anything over 400 iso is pure noise.

Excellent camera but blackmagic can do a better job of including a plug or battery.

So many features. However, to not include a battery of the wall side of an AC plug is kind of inexcusable.

Bang for the buck

Amazing camera and features. The Davinci Resolve application is also incredibly intuitive and hands down the best color grading software

Meh...

I will be retuning the BM4k. Audio issues, noise, FPN everything that the reviews warn about are all so true. Even In well lit situations, I experienced some of the former. On the flip side, the picture is amazing! If you can deal with the above issues and have an unlimited amount of storage....and pretty deeep pockets for extras. This is the camera for you. If you are on a budget and need quick, solid file transfer, camera option etc...I’d find another Camera. I think there is a lot of potential here, it’s just not for me.

Black Magic URSA Mini is worth the money!

I jumped from Canon only to the BM Ursa Mini based on all the good things I heard about it. Let me tell you, it is worth it!

The Perfect Camera

Get yourself an Ursa Mini 4k right now! It's reasonably cheap, and has the dynamic range to allow your work to meet the international standard. It's fairly weighted, ergonomically made to suite most needs and sleek. I love it!

Great but

Great camera, many reviews on this already so everything about this is a pro except for the FPN. I expose properly but I still see FPN and it drives me crazy. Can't rely on this during shoots.

Great Camera

Ursa mini is a great quality camera easy to use and fun The only real issue I have is the sea fast card prices and the amount of C fast cars that are required in order to do 4K raw It could cost you a small fortune just in media

Worth the money; Will likely buy another

The camera is a good system. I am happy with the ability to capture images in a wide variety of light settings. It offers good image quality and relatively easy operation. There are a few things that I'd like to see improved upon like the hinge for accessing the lcd and controls is stiff and the menu items are not intuitive and could be organized better. The batteries do not come with the system which is no big deal but they do add to the cost noticeably. The use of EF lens allows for a lot of good lens choices and use of existing lenses for my Canon cameras. Overall, I haven't found a camera that can do what this camera can for the price. I am looking to use this with students in the field for recording and in conjunction with a video production studio. I would recommend this camera and at this point plan to purchase a couple more of it or is slightly more expensive version for our setup. The kit from Adorama had a few extras that beat the competitors pricing. The add ons were okay quality and will be useful getting started. I am happy with the purchase.

Very Good Camera

People these days love to bring down this camera, but it's an amazing camera. You just need to know how to use it. The top complaint is the ISO settings but if you're a true filmmaker you should have lights, and it's a cinema camera so don't expect to make something with this without lights. You're not buying a Sony A7SII so get over that fact and light your scene and you will love it.

Great camera

It's a great camera and I couldn't be happier with the purchase. It's been a little over a month and this thing doesn't let me down. The image quality right out of the camera is phenomenal. But just so everyone knows, the fixed pattern noise at ISO 800 is a real thing. But don't let that stop you from getting this camera, it can definitely compete in the same ballgame as higher end cameras and will give you a great cinematic image. It's, in my opinion, the best bang for your buck.

Happy with upgrade from a BMCC 4K

Going from the Production 4K to the Ursa mini. Haven't had the opportunity to shoot with it much yet, but so far I'm happy.

Not a good match for people who seek to upgrade their DSLR

I have been shooting film all of my life starting with Super-8 cameras in my childhood. My projects are however usually short with no or only small teams. I used the good old Canon GL-1 for many of my projects and in recent years my Canon 5D MKIII. The Good: - I like the form factor and UI, but if you are used to shoot with DSLR's keep in mind that this is still a big camera you will need a lot of (due to size and type expensive) extras like the shoulder mount kit, pro batteries and -v-bracket and CFast 2.0 cards (for any larger project many of them) - The URSA can output raw files, but keep in mind that you will need enormous amounts of storage. - At ISO 400 and with enough light the camera does deliver nice and sharp files - Framerate options are great The Bad: - The noise is real, I am not aiming to deliver 4k videos, but was looking to zoom into the 4k frame as one of the benefits of shooting in 4K. When I scaled a well-lit 4k frame (ProRes 444) up by about 40% the noise started to be so strong that in my eye the footage becomes unusable. - Unless shooting raw which requires enormous amounts of memeory, any increase of exposure by more than one stop resulted in grayish/milky images. Not recommended for DSLR users who seek an upgrade. Try the camera first in any case!

Blown away

This camera is totally amazing. I read a lot of bad things about it on other sites but i have none of the issues described by users. My sensor and picture is clean. Excellent quality. bought together with Rokinon 16mm / 35mm / 85mm. and cheapo flashpoint follow focus (it works but its not pro). 128gb lexar 3600x CFAST 2.0 card was used. I'm a BM fanboy now

Good for a Hobby camera but expensive for this use

Dynamic range like DSLR and nice on all shadows. if you want a camera for cinema look chose bmcc or pocket best cinematic effect. the slow motion is ok but the same noise problems at shadows and not details in hight lights. bad Dynamic Range
