Blackmagic Design has released 3 new pieces of gear aimed at professional broadcasters, AV professionals and live streamers, and has reduced the price of their studio cameras after customer feedback. The new items include: the HyperDeck Studio Mini, the world’s smallest Ultra HD broadcast deck; the ATEM Television Studio HD, a versatile live production switcher; and the Web Presenter, which will allow users to make any SDI and HDMI video source to appear as a USB webcam. Additionally, the Australian manufacturer has revised and reduced the cost of their live production studio cameras.
NEW HyperDeck Studio Mini
Broadcasters will be able to take their production anywhere thanks to ultra-compact and portable design of the HyperDeck Studio Mini. Blackmagic’s aim was to miniaturize the gear without sacrificing professional features. The powerful little deck allows convenient recording and playback of broadcast quality 10-bit video as ProRes files on SD and USH-II cards – a much less expensive and more commonly available option than disks or tapes. The HyperDeck Studio Mini features multi rate 6G-SDI connections that will connect with virtually any camera, monitor, or SDI router and work with all SD, HD, and Ultra HD formats up to 2160p30.

Customers asked and Blackmagic listened! After receiving a lot of user feedback on previous models, Blackmagic realized “most customers doing live production use AC plug in power, so they have asked for a model without the battery.” By removing the internal battery, Blackmagic made the HD camera more lightweight and more affordable (also keep in mind the lighter weight advantage when it comes to shipping the camera via freight to production locations). The HD model is now down to $1495 at Adorama. The improved UltraHD camera also enjoys a price reduction of $800, down to a new price of $1695 at Adorama.
