This high-quality, variable contrast black and white enlarging paper features a medium weight, polyethylene-coated base, making it a reliable choice for professional photographers and enthusiasts alike. The Arista.EDU Ultra VC RC Paper offers a unique feature - the ability to adjust the contrast using yellow and magenta colored filters. This allows you to select the desired contrast from a range of grades, similar to that of graded papers, providing you with the flexibility to achieve the perfect balance in your prints. Available in Glossy, Semi-Matte, and Pearl surfaces, this versatile paper caters to a variety of aesthetic preferences. The contrast control can be adjusted from grade 0 through grade 5 using standard Ilford Multigrade or Kodak Polymax/Polycontrast filters. You can also use an enlarger color head by adjusting the amount of magenta or yellow filters.Designed for use with tungsten or tungsten quartz halogen light sources, the Arista.EDU Ultra VC RC Paper ensures optimal contrast values. The exposure of the paper is straightforward, depending on the filter system in use. When it comes to handling and safelights, this paper should be opened only in a photographic darkroom illuminated by standard OC, red, or sodium vapor safelights such as Thomas brand safelights. To prevent safelight fog, ensure that safelights are at least 3 feet from the paper at all times and minimize exposure to safelights.Processing the Arista.EDU Ultra VC RC Paper is simple and can be done in either trays or roller transport processing machines. It can be developed in any standard black and white photographic paper developer, with a recommended development time of 60 - 90 seconds at 68 Degree F/20 Degree C. After development, use a standard stop bath for a minimum of 10 seconds at a temperature between 65 Degree -75 Degree F (18 Degree -24 Degree C) to stop development immediately and extend fixer life. Fixing can be done in a standard fixing solution, with a general 2-5 minute fix time at 68 Degree F/20 Degree C. Once fixed, prints should be washed in running water for 3-4 minutes. For best preservation, store the paper in a cool, dry place. For prolonged storage, a freezer can be used. In either case, allow sufficient time for warming up and do not allow condensation to form on the paper. Box came a bit dinged up but overall good. Paper performed as expected but needed to develop for longer than recommended on spec sheet in D76.

Good paper for getting back into darkroom workflow

Still learning how to use this paper. Claims to be both OC and red light safe. Some fogging with the OC filter. Needs about one additional filter number to get the desired contrast I used to get with other papers. Appears that there has been a recent change in the emulsion across several paper suppliers I have used. Better than some recent experiences I have had with other brands. Still a good value for the price.

A learning curve

I tried this photopaper in the lab and outside in the sun. I am very pleased with my results: clarity, development times  and other important factors exceeded my results. Good paper, I need more!
