Need to Replace toner when it is at 20% Remaining!!!!

I have owned previous HP Laser Jet Pro Printers and LOVED Them. I am in shock that HP has it set up so that when your ink gets low (20% remaining) it squeals to the point that you think a gear is grinding or? I have to say I believe this is on purpose. The old printers you could continue to print for a month and didn't have to replace even when it said it was empty. Now you need to replace toner ink months before empty. A set of Toner cartridges are $289 for HP version(Don't use fake version) . I went from a huge HP fan to think a bit before purchasing from them now.

Not user friendly

Setting up the printer to scan requires install of HP software that is NOT plug and play easy. More trouble than it is worth when spending this kind of money.

Work Great

Works great. I replay a HP inkjet printer that was very disappointing failed after two year and with HP ink program it made things worse due to software glitches what happened. This laser jet has been working very well so far had about 7 months we have used heavily. So far so good.

Decent Printer, but Fails to be Consumer or Environmentally Friendly

This printer works fine for a small office environment. I absolutely despise that it uses a different toner cartridge than the outgoing model (M426) and the model that replaces the M428 will surely use yet another cartridge. It's a shady business tactic that HP has been enjoying for years.

Very good print quality but awkward design

Print quality is very good and fast however, the location of the digital pad makes it awkward to make selections for right handed people and a very small space to get your hand in to retreive the copies.

Single Checks will not Print!

The speed and quality are good. The printer cannot print single checks. You will either have to throw them away or order a pack of forms leaders. I strongly suggest ordering the additional paper tray with 500 page capacity.

Good printer and scanner

It works well and HP Smart is easy to use. My only problem is the connection to the Wi-Fi. It disconnects ofter and I am no longer able to reconnect it although I know how to do it. I have done it often and it worked but now, it no longer works. I have the same router and the same printer since 2 years. the Test report says that the printer does not speak the same language as the router. It used to work. I am not able to find HP Support. They make me do and redo the same thing that is not working.

Makes a nice paperweight

I bought this a couple of months ago and after fighting to get it to function properly since then I'm ready to throw it in the dumpster. I'm not sure if it's the hardware or software or both that's at fault, but it simply can't handle any task greater than printing a few pages from a word doc in black and white. Literally anything more complicated than that takes half an hour of trial and error. Either the printer is "offline," or it can't detect the paper, or it can't feed the paper, or it feeds the paper and doesn't print, or it feeds the paper and prints and the ink is smeared all over, or the orientation is opposite of what I selected, or...well, you get the picture. Would I recommend this product to a friend? No, I wouldn't recommend it to my worst enemy.

Scanner limitation

Can use software on computer to use the scanner option but cannot scan from the printer window function. Contacted online help chat and was told it's one or the other not both. Unfortunate as it would be very useful to sometimes use the printer window to scan to an email.

Nearly 500,000 pages printed..

... and still going strong! I have not had to change any components and this printer is still working beautifully! I am a loan signing agent and I use it quite frequently for printing and scanning documents.
