I like the overall color and size a lot. The menus are a little clunky and not very intuitive though. The mount option on the back leaves a lot to be desired. They should have just had a vega setup, or at least pre drilled holes to add a Vega mount. As it stands, it is a little flimsy. The feet on it are also pretty sketchy and wiggle a lot. One major thing I just found out about is that it does not have any anamorphic desqueeze. Pretty huge missed opportunity with that. Perhaps a firmware update could fix it. Aside from that I like it. Very bright.

I'm very impressed so far with this monitor. I bought one, put it through the paces on set, and wound up buying three. The color is very good right out of the box (even compared to much higher priced monitors), and the color IS adjustable via menus without the need of special cables or calibrators. These monitors matched each other (and other brand professional monitors) quite well without any adjustments. The monitor has most of the features you'd expect in a professional video monitor (frame guides, LUTs, peaking, etc), and is a very nice size for a client monitor. Although there is some clunkiness to the menus and some functions are lacking, most are quite good. I'm a long time DP and am familiar with higher end field monitors like SmallHD, Sony, and Flanders, and while those are all great monitors, I couldn't quite justify some of those price tags for my needs. These Osees fit the bill for on-set monitoring in the vast majority of my work. I'm one of the many jumping ship from the Sumo line of monitors due to their recent color issues, and this Osee has been a nice replacement. I'd absolutely recommend it as a field or studio monitor. I was disappointed that the waveform does NOT take the monitor-generated LUT into account, so the waveform is pretty much useless. Since log images tend to squeeze all the data into a very small middle range on a waveform, it's not very usable for final exposure levels (Osee, please fix this in a firmware update!) I also noticed several loose external housing screws on all 3 of my monitors upon arrival that needed to be torqued down. All considered, I'm very happy with this monitor. In my opinion, the pros easily outweigh the cons. I'm looking forward to see how they work long term. Pros: -GOOD COLOR out of the box? and color is adjustable without a calibration device or some proprietary overpriced aftermarket cable. The LUTs for Arri, Red, and Sony are surprisingly accurate. -PEAKING!!! Very happy that this has true peaking in addition to the usual "focus assist" (focus assist is typically various colored lines being generated around "sharp" areas, but tends to place colored lines over areas that aren't quite in focus. "Peaking" is more of an analog-type sharpening of areas in focus). I've personally found peaking to be much more accurate for critical focus pulling. The peaking level is strong enough at max strength to use as an AC's focus pulling monitor, and is on-par with the levels I've seen in my SmallHD monitors. -Very nice foam insert included that will convert into permanent padding when you buy a hard case. It looks like Osee designed this foam to be used with a hard case (and not just as cheap shipping foam), but they don't indicate which case it will fit. I've discovered the "Condition1" brand 25x20x8 case is a near perfect fit for this monitor. -Lots of usable features. Mose are fantastic (frame guides, LUTs, peaking), but some (such as waveform) need improvement. -Bright!! Easily viewable in daylight. With the included (and nice quality) sunhood, it is perfect for an exterior sunny day. -Four customizable quick buttons for easy on/off of various features such as LUT, peaking, markers, etc. -Runs for several hours on a decent AB or V-battery, so great for exterior or mobile shoots. CONS: -Slightly clunky menu navigation. Could definitely use improvement. It takes several screens of menus to toggle through quickly needed functions such as changing LUTs, or changing between frame guide markers. Not a huge deal, but a little cumbersome. -Waveform function DOESN'T take the monitor-generated LUT into account, so it's pretty much useless. (hope they fix this in an update). -Limited external mounting options for things like wireless receivers. A few 1/4 20" holes across the top and rear of the chassis would be nice. A good solution would be if Osee made an aftermarket cheese plate or cage for this monitor (hopefully something that could still fit into the existing padding though). -Several external screws were loose? may want to tighten them down before using. Not a big deal in itself, just gives me concerns about internal screws being loose (I did have to exchange one monitor due to internal screws being loose and an internal circuit board rattling free during shipping). -The included battery plate is great, but it blocks aftermarket mounting options such as a Vesa mount. Would be great to add some Vesa mount holes to monitor, and add more holes so the battery plate can be re-located toward the side if needed. The included "baby pin receiver" stand-mount is a nice thought, but doesn't articulate in any way, so it's a bit limiting.... this wouldn't be an issue if there was an easy way to attach a different mount. Again, the pros definitely outweigh the cons for my needs. I'd definitely recommend this. Osee seems to be good about taking customer's feedback into account, so hopefully many of the issues will be resolved in future updates.
