Timed with WPPI in Las Vegas and CP+ in Japan, Sigma has just announced brand new additions to its Art lenses line, as well as to its Sony E-mount collection.
The company has launched new 70mm f/2.8 Macro and 105mm f/1.4 lenses, as well as nine total Sony lenses.
The new lenses, according to Sigma, include a “newly developed control algorithm that optimizes the autofocus drive and maximizes the data transmission speed.”

Sigma 105mm F1.4 DG HSM | Art lens:
The 105mm F1.4 art lens is Sigma’s longest-focal length F1.4 lens and includes rubber sealing to keep it dust- and splash-proof (similar to the Sports line). The company has dubbed it the “Bokeh master,” and the lens features 17 optical elements in 12 groups, making it a go-to for portrait photographers.

Sigma 70mm F2.8 DG Macro | Art lens:
The 70mm F2.8 art lens is Sigma’s first prime macro lens to receive the “Art badge.” The lens also features a new coreless DC motor that delivers smooth autofocus performance, as well as an extending, floating, two-group focus mechanism.
Both lenses are also compatible with Canon Lens Aberration Correction, helping to fix peripheral illumination, chromatic aberrations, distortion, and more, and improving image quality. Sigma SA-mounts, Nikon, and Sony E-mounts are also available.

Sigma Art lenses for Sony E-mount
Along with the two lenses above, Sigma has announced the following lenses in Sony E-Mount versions:
- 14mm F1.8 DG HSM | Art
- 20mm F1.4 DG HSM | Art
- 24mm F1.4 DG HSM | Art
- 35mm F1.4 DG HSM | Art
- 50mm F1.4 DG HSM | Art
- 85mm F1.4 DG HSM | Art
- 135mm F1.8 DG HSM | Art
The lenses will feature the same high-performance optical design as the other offerings in the Art line, but will also include a new control algorithm that pairs with the autofocus drive and maximizes data transmission speed.
The company also announced that they plan on including additional Sony E-mount models in the Art line going forward.
Firmware updates improve lens compatibility with Canon Lens Aberration Corrections
A new Firmware version 2.0 will include expanded compatibility with 22 current lenses in the Art, Sports, and Contemporary lenses in Canon EF-Mount and Canon’s Lens Aberration Correction in-camera settings.
