Review Summary

I purchased this filter after seeing great reviews for it on Youtube, it was consistently rated better than the more expensive filters, it was not until after the purchase that I noted in a couple of reviews that these filters although excellent are somewhat fragile, in one review it was recommended that the filter only be used in studio settings. I am still happy with the purchase, I am a still photographer that uses these filters in landscape photography often in somewhat harsh environments, mountain streams and waterfalls. Because I use this with Canon wide angle lenses I had purchased 105mm filters to go on lenses with 77mm filter threads using a step up ring to avoid vignetting, to solve the fragility problem I purchased somewhat inexpensive 105mm UV filters to protect the ND filters from the elements, I also purchased lens caps because Sigma makes a great lens cap for about $10 that fits the filters perfectly. I use a rear UV filter to further protect when not in use.

Be at the forefront of cinematography with the Tokina 105mm PRO IRND 1.2 Filter - 4 Stops, a revolutionary combination of Infrared (IR) and Neutral Density (ND) filters. Designed to address the challenges faced by today's high-end cinema cameras, this filter is a game-changer in the world of professional photography and videography.
Unlike most cameras that lack a built-in low-pass or IR cut filter to mimic the human eye's sensitivity to light, the Tokina PRO IRND filter helps maintain optimal exposure levels. It effectively controls the amount of light entering the lens, reducing the need for stronger ND filters that often result in infrared pollution.
The Tokina PRO IRND filter, developed by the innovative team at Kenko Tokina, leverages advanced Accu-ND Technology. This technology ensures a Neutral Density filter that doesn't compromise on color, unlike many IRND filters in the market that cause color shifting.
This filter also eliminates the need for constant white balance adjustments during a shoot and color corrections in post-production. It stabilizes the transmittance of color throughout the visible spectrum, ensuring true color fidelity and reducing post-production work.
Available in both round and square/rectangular styles, the Tokina PRO IRND filter features an ND vapor deposition coating. The round filter has this coating on both sides of the glass, creating a high-precision, truly neutral filter. The square/rectangular filter, on the other hand, has the coating sandwiched between two layers of glass. This design allows for re-polishing of the filter, extending its lifespan and providing excellent value for money.
Unlike other IRND filters that cut the near infrared from a particular wavelength, the Tokina PRO IRND filter suppresses rather than cuts infrared up to 1200nm. This method effectively eliminates infrared pollution without the risk of producing unwanted color shifts, making it a superior choice for professional cinematographers and photographers.
In conclusion, the Tokina 105mm PRO IRND 1.2 Filter - 4 Stops is a revolutionary tool that combines precision, durability, and innovative technology to deliver unparalleled results in the world of professional imaging.
